When I was in middle school, one of my best friends and I both had to wait around for hours for our respective parents to pick us up.  On days when we didn’t have afterschool activities, we would lie in the grass and take turns reading aloud to one another, and ASoUE was one of our favorites.  I know Lemony Snicket is a man, but he will forever sound like a rather serious, slightly deep-voiced teenage girl in my mind.
